I am drawn to the tension between deconstruction and reconstruction, a dynamic process that mirrors the interplay of natural and human forces in our environment. My work embraces a zealous and gestural style, where spontaneity meets calculated application. Each brushstroke and texture serves as both an expressive mark and a deliberate response, creating a dialogue between figuration and abstraction. My paintings hold a space that blurs the lines between drawing and painting, between fragment and whole. Works like The Mending II and A Grasp and a Gaze exemplify my fascination with layered textures and reworked surfaces. Through phases of breakdown and buildup, I seek to capture the perpetual evolution of life—its chaos, its rhythm, and its beauty. Inspired by both human emotion and the forces of nature, I aim to create pieces that resonate with the viewer on an instinctual level, inviting them to explore their own narratives within the interplay of texture, color, and form.

Philip is a lifelong New York State resident who discovered his passion for art at a young age. He studied at Fairleigh Dickinson University before earning his BFA from Marist College. He later received a Master's in Art Teaching from the School of Visual Arts and has over 15 years of teaching experience in both New York City and the Hudson Valley. Over the past three years, Philip has actively exhibited his work in numerous group shows throughout the metropolitan and Hudson Valley regions. In November 2024, he presented his solo exhibition, Between Bodies, at Arbor Gallery, exploring themes of gesture, form, and emotional resonance through abstraction. Philip currently works out of his studio in Hudson, NY, where he not only creates but also curates, using the space as a venue for collaborative and group exhibitions that foster community and dialogue among regional artists.
